A Look at the New Cars Before June 2009

This year, 2009, is only a few months in but car manufacturers are already on a roll. New styles, features and economic ‘helpers’ are already available. For example, the 2009 Saturn Outlook has a medium price range of about $31,400 with about 24 mpg highway. Although the cost may seem a bit high but for an 8-passenger crossover, it is said to be a pretty good deal.

Another new 2009 car is the Hyundai Tucson GLS. Priced at $18,070 with 20 mpg city/26 mpg highway, it’s a pretty decent car. Out of the three Hyundai Tucson cars (GLS, SE and Limited), the GLS is the best in the price and fuel efficiency categories. However, if you’re looking for more horsepower and torque, the Limited might be good for you.

Next on the list is the 2009 car Mazda6. Looks-wise, it’s sleek, stylish and cool. Compared to the Saturn Outlook, the price range is considerably better. The Mazda6 starts at $19,220 with 21 mpg city and 30 mpg highway. This car can be fast, fuel efficient and cool all at the same time which makes it one of the ideal vehicles for the beginning of this year.

These are only a few of the good cars that have come out this year and there are more to come. For the new releases, I’d recommend searching through all the car dealers that you can. I listed off cars from Mazda, Hyundai and Saturn but there are still Ford, Cadillac, Toyota, GMC, Volvo, Suzuki, Subaru, Jeep, Nissan, Acura…and so on.

Are Cars from China All That Great?

People who live in America, as well as other big countries, know that a lot of our products are from China. You can buy toys, candles, blankets, clothes or cars and find, somewhere on the item, a little sticker indicating that they are manufactured in a foreign country. Since so many of our products come from China, there are questions about whether we should be allowing this to happen…especially with our transportation vehicles.

Ford, one of the largest car companies in the USA, allows China to manufacture their vehicles. The reasoning behind this is simple, the work is cheap. Chinese workers get paid less to do the same, or better, quality of work than what American workers produce. Therefore, car companies, such as Ford, can pay the foreign workers a lesser price while still being able to sell the end product, the car, at a much higher price to Americans. As you would most likely expect, this causes a big problem with Ford customers.

Even though Ford has found a way to produce their vehicles cheaply, it doesn’t mean that if you import a car from China that it’ll be cheap for you. Importing a car can be very difficult because of all the requirements it takes to get the vehicle to America. Safety regulations, import taxes, EPA rules, along with many other requirements can become great hindrances.

So, in my opinion, cars from China are great to use and econimical but the answer to the question “Should I import a car from China” is a big, flat out “No!”

The Cheapest of them All (Cars, that is)

In America, people know of car manufacturers such as Cadillac, Ford, Toyota, Honda, Mitsubishi, Chevrolet and GMC (General Motors Company). However, there are many, many more car manufacturing companies out there! One of them is the Tata Motor Company located in India. If there are so many more motor companies then why do I mention this one? I speak of them because they produce the cheapest car that is on the market!

Chevrolet produces a car called the Aveo that is sold for $12,625 and Hyundai makes the Accent which sells for about $9,970. Even though it may seem like a stretch, neither of these companies make the least expensive car in the world. Therefore, Tata Motors comes into play. On March 23, 2009, the Nano was released. This four door, rear-engine, sleek, tiny and easy to handle vehicle sells at $2,500…or less. The car is primarily aimed towards the India market and is available for purchase in July 2009.

The name of the car, Nano, was titled by Tata Motors using their own language. Gujarati is the language of the founders of the Tata Group. Even before the Nano, other car manufacturing companies have tried to create vehicles that are very similar. For example, DaimlerChrysler has been selling the Smart Car, which is very tiny, but costs $35,000. India still has them beat. Other various vehicles include the Mini Cooper and the Volkswagen Bug. Even though they are small, each still costs a considerable amount more than the Tata Nano. So far, this car is the cheapest the world has seen in a very long time. Now we just have to sit and wait to see what will come next!

Our experience with the cheapest car: The Yugo

As a 10 year old child you can remember your parents coming home with a surprise car. The window sticker was stilled neatly attached with the price $3990 in big black bold letters. We were happy and shocked that we had a new car.

This was the ultimate car to have back in the day called the “Yugo”. It had been just recently introduced to the American people. The car has nice interior and drove smoothly. It was compared to be driven like a roller coaster.

Our Yugo drove with style as a fuel efficiency car, it was a great gas saver. We had the car for almost a year and that when we experience trouble with the interior in the car. The seats had torn apart and the engine was failing. The Yugo car gave us 3 years and after that it died. We attempted to use the car as a trade in but no one would take it. The car was impossible to sell.

There is a new car out this year that has not yet been released to the dealership. It is called a “Tata Nino” vehicle, the price is going of $2500. It is more an economy gas saver vehicle.

The India manufacturers is marketing the car, but has not shipped it to the United States. It will be soon coming out in the year 2009 according to Newsweek reporters. It is identified as the new 21st century vehicle.

The Wall Street Journal classifies it as a nice economy car for those who are on a budget and looking for a gas saver vehicle. Once the Tata Nino make its way to the United States it will be a quality vehicle that people will love. It will be priced at an affordable price to fit any budget.
